"Z"ing a frame with a static drop?

I have Halen's frame down to a bare frame and was thinking about having it "Z"ed by Bullock's Body Werks. It will be done professionally, but was thinking about how low it would be. We originally were going to go with a 4.5/6 on her stepside.

I don't know if I've even seen a Z'd frame with a static drop, most I'm sure are bagged.

Also, what are the options for the rear suspension so it doesn't have a ridiculous rake to it. Coilovers?

Any thoughts, opinions, ideas?

I had asked the same question awhile back on the other C10 board. The consensus was that most people only do it when they are installing air ride but there was a person or two on there that had done it: http://c10forum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=9786

There is one guy on here who did a 2 inch Z on a 66(?) to gain ground clearance.

I had intending on doing the same but ultimately decided to bag my truck. If I was going to do it with a static set up I would probably do 1.5 inches as you wouldn't likely need to make transmission tunnel modification and it would bring your lower control arms parallel with your frame.

Sounds like it may not be worth it. More expensive and may not be worth the headache.

I have maybe $50 into my actual Z. I have another $275 into my steering. You could do the steering for cheaper if you have a 1/2 ton (you can use the steering linkage out of an Astro Van). If you are going to remain static with a 1.5 inch Z you might not even need to change the steering at all.

I ended up going with a 4 inch Z (and 2 inch SFBD). I don't think there is any other way you can get 4 inches of drop for $325. Of course I didn't factor time into that though.

True, but this is a first vehicle for a kid so I think I'll just stick with the 4.5/6 drop.

I think 4.5/6 would be fine. You may want a bit taller of tire just for extra ground clearance (From experience-I was young/dumb with a lowered car once).

Mine is zed 3" 2.5" drop spindles and cut one coil. Basically it allowed me to go lower without having to worry about my control arms hitting. Sorry for the bad picture its the only one i have thats a side profile and shows the height.

Mtrhd that looks mean! Are those Cragers? I was thinking of the same rims in 17'' What are you doing in the rear to match the drop?

Thanks. For the rear i made a flip kit. Im trying to decide if i want to take a couple leaves out or put some shackles on it to bring the rear down some. The rims are cragar soft 8s and the rears are 17s which raises it up some. Might just switch to 15s. Havent decided yet tho. It sure would be easier to get big tires with a 15" rim over a 17".
