Rear mount, side fill gas tank setup

Barely used LMC kit. Was new and mounted in my bedless truck when I bought it last year, but it won't work with a short step bed. Comes with tank, sender with float and strap kit. Asking $150 plus shipping, though local pickup would be preferred (easier than trying to air it out). I'll throw in the pictured '61 Impala filler neck.

Re: Rear mount, side fill gas tank setup

I'm sweetening the deal. I ended up using my existing mounting kit and hardware with the new tank, so I will include the kit that came with the new tank. I will also include the other vented filler neck I was trying to use with the new tank, along with a 3 foot length of 1 1/2" ID filler hose and a 4-foot length of 5/8" ID vent hose. All for the same $150 plus shipping.

Ever get down to NJ area? Interested but the shipping would be a deal killer.
Need any parts in trade?

Don't need any parts at this point. Just need to clear out stuff I'm not using.

How far down in New Jersey?

The P.O. had some metal pads crudely welded to the frame of the truck to support the newer ('75) stepside bed he had on the truck previous. When I installed a correct bed with the correct wood and cross rails, the filler lined up dead center on the cross rail. If you do your own bed wood you could avoid this, but I was already too far down the path of using the stock setup to change without spending more money.

tl;dr, You can make it work if you want. I chose not to.

Re: Rear mount, side fill gas tank setup

Is that picture taken with the filler toward the passenger side of the truck?

If it were to be facing the drivers side would it miss a cross member/sill?

What's the shipping to 86409?

That is with the filler facing the driver's side. I don't think turning it around would be ideal, but I can't remember why. I tried it and decided it wouldn't work.

Re: Rear mount, side fill gas tank setup

ScottH....

If you are wanting the tank I will back out and you can take it.

Your posts did not indicate you were a buyer as you asked if Jimal was in the trading mood and wanted it delivered.

Up to you. I don't need it but am a cash buyer if you aren't.

Sorry Scott. Not invisible, but as I mentioned in an earlier response I don't need any parts at this point. And unfortunately my schedule these days doesn't allow for me to meet someone somewhere. I'm pending with McCoyAZ, but nothing is final until the check clears, so if this falls through you're next and I'll have to figure out how and when I can get down to NJ.

Re: Rear mount, side fill gas tank setup

McCoyAZ, I have no problem with Jimal selling it to u, but I never received an answer from him about a possible pick up somewhere in NJ. As u can c from the thread I replied to him I would be willing to meet but he just never replied again. I am interested in the tank but understand if he would rather not travel for a sale, I just wanted an answer. No problem if he wants to ship, but being the first to respond and then ignored is annoying to say the least.

Re: Rear mount, side fill gas tank setup

Scott, that is my fault. I've been relying on the email notifications to keep up with the thread. The forum only notifies you when the first reply comes in since your last visit. I didn't scan the thread to see if there were other replies.

Re: Rear mount, side fill gas tank setup

I will sit back and wait a day until you both decide what you would like to do.

It doesn't matter to me one way or another.

You guys work it out and I will look tomorrow morning to see what you both decided to do.

Meeting up with people this time of year is hard for me because many of my weekends are filled with work activities, and those that aren't are filled with household stuff. I'm not even making my Indy 500 trip next weekend because of a stack of projects.
