May 2015 ToTM

Going to try something that I hope is different for our Truck of the Month (ToTM) theme. The theme of this month’s TOTM is

Hand Me Downs are Great!

Unlike some of the clothes, our theme is a hand me down we LOVE. Those beloved vehicles that we got from a parent, grandparent, older siblings, or other relative.

To be an eligible for this month's contest:
  • Open to all years and models of Trucks, Blazers, Suburbans, Tahoes, Yukons, and Jimmys.
  • The nominee must be a board member and the current owner of the truck.
  • You had to have gotten the vehicle from a family (to include in-laws) member.
  • It must be road worthy and currently legal to be on the road.
  • If a truck was selected as a 2014 or 2015 TOTM winner then you are ineligible. If the truck was nominated but not selected as a TOTM winner then it may be nominated and compete in this month's category.
To Nominate:

You or someone else may nominate the vehicle. The nominee must be a board member and the current owner of the truck. Once you decide on who you wish to nominate, just add your nomination to this thread. We will need two pictures minimum (at least one full view of the vehicle) with/for the nomination as well as the owner’s board name, the Make/Model/Year of vehicle, and which family member the truck came from.

Nominees will run through April 24. The first 15 nominees that meet the criteria will participate in the contest. I will PM the nominees to get any additional data or pictures if they have not already been provided. If the owner has a preferred picture they want used in the contest, please let me know in a PM. You can PM me for an e-mail address in case anyone has problems resizing the pictures for the board. A Poll Thread will be set up by April 25 in this board area and an announcement will be posted on the Discussion Boards to notify all that voting has begun. The Poll will run thru the morning of May 1 and the official announcement of the winner will be on the evening of May 1. The announcement of the TOTM winner will be posted through the General Discussion Board area.

Re: May 2015 ToTM

I want to nominate Larry ( Mr. Chevrolet). He restored his 1967 Chevrolet truck that his father owned since 1967. Here is his build thread. http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=604414

Re: May 2015 ToTM

I just asked my cousin to join last week, but hasn't joined yet.
Too bad, because he got our Grandpa's 65.
First it went to my uncle back in the mid 70's, then later to his son.
Here is a pic taken 1980
My uncle in my Grandpa's old 65.

Re: May 2015 ToTM

I am just going to go ahead and nominate myself. Yeah, I will be that guy. I got the truck from my grandpa after bugging him about it for years. Its a 1950 Chevy 3100. Finally called and told me to come with a trailer. Was on the road the next morning. Took a long time to get it built but now it sits on the stock frame with custom front suspension, 4 link rear suspension, Accuair and LS powered. Here are some pictures. The day I got it, the day I took my Grandparents for a ride in it for the first time and one from Lone Star Throwdown this year.

Thanks,
Chad

Re: May 2015 ToTM

I will nominate myself. My moms grandmother passed the truck down to her daughter, who passed it down to my mom and dad who passed it down to me for my first vehicle when I was about 8.

Re: May 2015 ToTM

Due to a new kid I was able to get this 1972 Custom Deluxe K20 from my brother instead of having to buy a minivan. I helped do much of the work before I got it but just finished adding a TC 2.5 lift a few weeks back.

350/TH350/NP205 with original D44 and Eaton rear with 4.10s, 255/85/16 on late steel rims. Fairly original vehicle so trying to keep it as stock as possible excluding the lift. Next on the agenda is rebuilding the rear third member, Transfer case and new drive shafts which will finish off the drivetrain. Got my samples from SMS and plan to get the front and middle seat back to stock to match the original third.

I LOVE THIS DAILY DRIVER!!!

Re: May 2015 ToTM

My grand father purchased this old K20 about 42 years ago. Around Christmas time 3 years ago he gave it to me for my first truck. I was only 13 when i got it and as you can see in the photos she needed alot of work. So me my dad, brother and grandfather all help bring her back to life. Now that im 16 and have my licence me and my grandfather often go for rides to car shows in the old girl.

I'm going to second that nomination.

Re: May 2015 ToTM

My Dad bought this truck brand new in 1985. I inherited it in 2002 when he passed away. It's been totally gone through. My son and I long-hauled the 2013 Power Tour with it. Soon he'll get it as a "hand me down."

I would like to nominate (again) NHDON and his 67 chevy LWB stepside that was given to him, by his father in 1979, for his first vehicle.
