What is temp is the stock thermostat?
I thought that the 195 degree thermostat was stock temperature, but I was looking through an LMC catalog the other day and it listed the 180 degree one as standard. Then they list a 160 as a "summer" thermostat and a 195 as a "winter" thermostat. So what is the stock temperature rating?

Re: What is temp is the stock thermostat?
My parts book says 1973-1978, all models, all engines: 195 degrees.

Re: What is temp is the stock thermostat?
That is what I have read. I just wondered why LMC had them listed that way. I know that when I had my dodge truck I was always told that the magnum engines performed better with a thermostat with a lower temp rating than the stock one. I had never heard of this with SBC's.

Re: What is temp is the stock thermostat?
It was an emissions thing. All GM vehicles by 1974 were on 195 stats as stock OEM equipped.
