Looking for Trucks for '73-'87 Restoration Book
Hello, my name is Kevin Whipps, and I'm a writer and photographer based in Phoenix, Arizona. A few months back, I hit up the forum with this post:
Looking for Trucks for '67-'72 C10 Restoration Book Unfortunately, as I state later in that thread, I just couldn't find the in-progress projects that I needed to complete the book, and, in the interest of getting a book out on time, we shifted gears. I'm now working on a '73-'87 Chevy restoration book, and it's due this summer. What I'm looking for is twofold. First, I'd like to find trucks (preferably in the Phoenix/Southwest area) that are in the process of being restored. I need quite literally every step of the process photographed, from paint to brake jobs and everything in between. Second, I'd like to find pictures that you've already taken of your project in process, so that I can potentially use those for the book as well. Feel free to PM me here for any questions, and thanks. |

Since you are in the area, I would suggest getting in touch with Joe Yezzi.

Re: Looking for Trucks for '73-'87 Restoration Book
Way ahead of you! I shot Joe and his shop for the C-10 Buyer's Guide a few months back, and since then we've done a few projects together. I'm heading out to his place next week to shoot some suspension work that he's doing. Thanks, though!

I'm in Michigan but documented my cosmetic restoration in my intro thread, linked below.

Re: Looking for Trucks for '73-'87 Restoration Book
I have high-quality, print-worthy photos of my project. Using a Sony NEX-6 camera.
I'm in the process of converting the front clip on my 1983 K10 to a front clip from a 1973/74. Cutting out all the rust, painting it, redoing the interior, and rehabbing the engine and drivetrain. Pics of my progress are on another forum: http://www.gm***************/forum/s...t=11942&page=4 (btw, those pics are all scaled down for web, I have full resolution JPEGs that are like 4000 x 3000 pixels). I live in Kansas, but can upload the pics to my website where you can download them. I just finished a book myself and the (small amount) of money I earned from it is paying for this project!! Re: Looking for Trucks for '73-'87 Restoration Book
Me? I have a '74 Chevy crew cab and a '74 GMC Jimmy. I think the crew cab may be sold, but that is the list as of today.

Re: Looking for Trucks for '73-'87 Restoration Book
Kevin;
Are you just looking for trucks in the process of restoration? My 78 SWB was a one owner truck until I bought it in June 2014 and is non restored, having only 34.5k original miles. It still has all its original hoses, equipment, paper line tags, etc. It also has its original rotors & brake drums, shocks, spare tire as well. I didn't know if you might be looking for a reference vehicle for stock restorations? Steve
