trailer hitch?

Will a trailer hitch off a 87 fit on a 64? I assume the wiring is different but I'm talking about the fitment in general

Re: trailer hitch?

I pulled the hitch from my buddy's 85 blazer and it required some minor drilling to work. I think the biggest difference is the positioning of the insert. Mine is kind of hidden, but its still noticeable when you have a reciever in place.

Re: trailer hitch?

Some more angles to get a feel

This last picture shows that you will have to drill out the rivets holding the rearmost cross brace in order to use this hitch.

Re: trailer hitch?

I got a $10 boneyard hitch from a Tyotti pickup .... cause it curved back and gave room for the spare... narrowed the cross pipe, rewelded to the flange ends and fabbed the frame brackets.
The spare hangs on a crank up winch.

Re: trailer hitch?

You oughtta see the hitch set up on my '62!!

I almost hate to take it off because its so retro looking and a piece of RVing history, a time capsule sorta thing if you will.

It ties into the frame in numerous places and is very beefy, definitely not some piece of home built engineering.

Perhaps I'll take a couple pics and share em on here while the trucks up on the lift right now.

Re: trailer hitch?

Here are the different angles of my hitch, as I said it's tied in in several places and really kind of impressive for the time frame it was installed and utilized.
