Re: calling "6" bangers boys!!!

if you wanted it NOS looking why not install the nicer looking one and have the one you want replated in zinc or yellow cadmium in the meantime.

Re: calling "6" bangers boys!!!

Those are two different carbs....one for a 292 and the other probably for a 230 or 250. Yes you will loose power with the smaller butterfly....less air flow. Both look stock to me so I'd use the bigger one.

thks TJ, the nicer one is from a 230, dang it!!! the 292 one just looks lame next to my fresh paint, i did see one claiming to be 292 NOS and it was yellow cad. i think mine is just faded...

Re: calling "6" bangers boys!!!

Maybe a stupid question, but shouldn't you be able to take the bottom section with the bigger butterfly and mate it to the newer cad plated upper carb section?

With that said - you may not want to because they look different in coloration...

its a smart question, but thats what my plans were. thats how i found out they are different, plus the nicer one has passageways miled into the bottom between the cast iron mounting piece, so i dont wanna cuz issues. ima take them both to my carb guy and see what he thinks!!!

This is the place I used in the past and have suggested to people. They'll restore your carb with the proper plating as well.
