Modern seat ideas

I would like to run with front buckets from a later tahoe for my 72 blazer because of the built in seat belt but i noticed everyone is usually getting 2nd row..I guess because of the bracket height and flips up? Does anybody know of any front seats off later chevys, tahoes, yukons that have the seat belt built in and will still fold or slide forward for rear access? Or am I just asking for to much?

Re: Modern seat ideas

I've seen just about every seat put in that I can think of. Only thing I don't like about the newer seats is they stick up really high especially with the built in seat belts. I have bestop front seats in mine and they are high but they don't look too bad since they sick up where the roll bar comes down. I'm sticking with the stock rear seat.

Re: Modern seat ideas

You can take a look through my build thread, I think there are seat pics around the middle and with covers towards the end. I used seats out of 2000 and later
Silverado and the third rows out of a Tahoe. Both have built in seat belts. Just make sure to reinforce the floor where they bolt up. Ya don't want the seats ripping the bolts through the floor in an accident.

Re: Modern seat ideas

Trailblazer ss seats have built in belts, mount them slid all the way back so you have some room to slide them forward.

Those aren't a bad looking seat - belt tower is low to the seat and removable headrests to look even closer to stock 69-72 Blazer seats.

Re: Modern seat ideas

They are pretty comfortable and summit racing sells a few different types. I want black eventually so I may pull these out and sell them to get the black ones.

Re: Modern seat ideas

I used manual seats from a 2006 Chevy truck. I have seen others used 2nd Row captains chairs from a Tahoe/Escalade because they have a flip forward mechanism from the factory... what aver you do, make sure you renforce the floor from underneath because if you have an accident that it the only thing from keeping YOU and the SEAT from going through the windshield...

Re: Modern seat ideas

I used the front seat row out of a 1998-2001 Dodge Ram club or extended cab( quad cab seats don't slide forward enough). They have built in seat belts and slide forward for rear seat access. A bit tricky install, but I couldn't be happier.

Re: Modern seat ideas

BlazerOwner, What year bestop seats did you order for? I seen they have different year models for the jeeps and didnt know if certain ones were easier to mount or not. Thanks Also do you have pics of the plates you made to mount them?

Re: Modern seat ideas

The seats are all the same, I believe it's the seat mounts that are different that you buy seperately. Basically the mounting holes are straight down in the seat so all you have to do is make a plate for the difference in where the original mounts would be. I actually have plans to make a better setup so I have already tossed the plates I made as I didn't think it was safe enough. These are going in the for sale pile soon I want to get the black ones. I have a set of 2010 Camaro seats in my Chevelle and they were much harder to adapt. These are a piece of cake in comparison.

Re: Modern seat ideas

MCMIXIX, do you know if you can still buy those 2nd row captain seats for 200? Everywhere I have seen are 800 to 1200 for a set.
