62 c/10 hydraulic clutch questions.

This is the first truck I've owned with a hydraulic clutch. Truck has sat for 15 yes and just want to get it going so I can move it around as needed. Master cylinder was dry so filled with fluid a couple days ago. I have no idea how these clutches work. Àny tips is appreciated.

Re: 62 c/10 hydraulic clutch questions.

Just like any brake system.

It has a bleeder valve down on the slave cylinder which is mounted to the bell housing, which actuates the arm, which actuates your the throw out bearing against your pressure plate, thus engaging your clutch.

You have to bleed it just like you bleed brakes.

By virtue of the fact that master cylinder is empty, your slave cylinder probably leaked out, indicating a rebuild/replacement is probably in order.

Thank you sir. Looks as though the master cylinder works the clutch and brakes. Can you just open the bleeder with the lid off the cylinder and let it bleed itself, like you can the brakes? Just keep full of fluid while it bleeds.

Pump it up, hold and bleed.

Re: 62 c/10 hydraulic clutch questions.

Ive always been told not to pump the clutch mc....have someone push the pedal down. Crack and bleed air. Repeat until all air out of the system.....not saying its correct, just what I've always been told. ***But referring to independent clutch mc....not sure on the dual function clutch/brake mc***

Re: 62 c/10 hydraulic clutch questions.

Right now it just goes to floor with no resistance,no matter how many times you pump it. Gonna be gone for a few days Turkey hunt in,but will get some help when I get back with bleeding. Thanks again.

Re: 62 c/10 hydraulic clutch questions.

You have air in it or the actuator is bad. Most likely you have a bad part if it has been setting for a while. I had the same problem and I went to advance auto and got a new one because it was cheaper than the ones in the parts catalog. Installed it and it started to get pressure and the clutch worked. It does work like the brake system you have to get the air out. This system doesn't take as much to get the air out. Let me correct myself. When I meant pump I should have said push and hold. Push pedal down and open the bleeder valve. Do it again and should be good.
