i don't think tri 4's are good for these trucks b/c of how close the frame rails are together. parralle would probly be a better way to go.

Yep! Roughly 33" from outside-to-outside. A parallel 4-link is visually easier to install but does require a panhard bar. That's not a big deal though.

I have started on a rear tri 4 link. It is in the suspension section under Bolting up 4 link. There are a few pics there. Though it is not from the mentioned company.

I wouldn't suggest it at all. From what I know, Air Ride doesn't either "anymore". They did offer the kit for 73-87 trucks at one time. I have one on my 82 Blazer, and my buddy n2billet put one one his 84 SWB.

It just doesn't work well because the top bars aren't long enough, and it doesn't control side to side movement like it should.

Yoo will be much happier with their parallel 4 link system....

Couldnt he take and put a panhard bar on that and regain control of the rearend?? From looking at my tri 4 link do you think I will have the same problems
?? My top bars come on from the top at the mounting point for the side leaf spring brackets. Also mine appear to be longer. Why would longer be better. One would assume the shorter it is the less sway it would get??

Phantom, the tri-4 link was designed to keep it simple and eliminate the panhard bar. It is a great theory, but just doesn't work in application.

Your bars should work better, for traction perpposes, because they are longer. Since they are mounted at more of an angle, they "might" prevent lateral play too.

After playing with a couple of the triangulated 4 links we have come to the conclusion (and so has Air Ride) that a traditional 4 link with a panhard bar is the best route to take. It just creates more headache when it come to exhaust...

Why didnt someone bring this up before??? This is just my luck. If I do have problems I guess I will add a panhard bar!! My exhaust will exit in front of the tire so thats not a issue. I see that my top bars come in at a reverse angle compared to your friends there. Mine seems to be real sturdy but I guess that is yet to be tested. What are your plans for the Blazer knowing this. How about you buddy??

N2Billet plans to re-do his top bars, and go with a panhard bar, and traditional top bars.

The Blazer is a whole 'nuther story. Keith (n2billet) and I had a lot of conversation about it this past weekend. We need to take lots of measurements to determine what our next step is.

I sold the 18/20's that I had on it. I am going for a bit bigger tire and wheel now, so we have to determine how much we have to change the suspension to get where we want to be.

For some reason my Blazer rearend didn't seem to walk around as much as his trucks did. Here it is...

Ouch! Such harsh words. Yes, I do own a Ford, but that shouldn't surprise anyone since it's in my sig. Out of courtesy, I only post my sig once per thread, to keep things clean.

That really is the reason I go to that sight though. The Ford sight I frequent (and serve as a moderator) is specific to my truck. It is www.nhtoc.com. Heres a pic of my truck....

Phantom, I did not set it up. My friend Keith (N2billet) did it at his shop. that's his truck in the pics above my Blazer. This was done a couple of years ago, and I don't remember the details.

It will look much better when we get everything painted and powder coated....
