Engine compartment light from 88+

Any one ever install one under the hood of a 81-87. Got it for $2 and the ones Ive used worked well. Easy enough install, just looking for ideas. I want to keep it clean. Thanks

I have been using those for years on all sorts of vehicles. My 77 C/10 has one on the left fender. My 81 Jeep CJ7 has one on the radiator support/grille shell.

Re: Engine compartment light from 88+

So I got some help from the 88+guys. They call it a under hood reel light or retractable reel light.

Re: Engine compartment light from 88+

that's probably the most underused underappreciated accessory ever. The number of people I've met that either A don't didn't know they had one or B didn't like that it didn't shine a light on what they wanted to work on and didn't realize they could unwind it far outnumber the people who have actually used one.

I added one to my 85. Mounted it in the factory spot that the R/V series had them like in RUSSGT's photo above...

Well the reason they don't get used is people don't realize they are there nor don't care.. or like mine the real part broke and was never able to put the light back in lol.
