ran until parked

There has to be at least 12 different "project" TF trucks on my local Craigslist, these 2 we advertised not only as running when parked but also the cheapest. There is a "running project 56" for 10k, with normal rust of course.

Re: ran until parked

The Bay Area sure is TF Valhalla/elephant's graveyard. You guys must run around with your eyes bugging out all of the time. There ain't none of them anywhere around here (PA).

They are everywhere, but it's almost always " I'm going to restore it some day" syndrome. I have stopped by several locations in the last year and it's always the same. Luckily I have kept mine and put it back on the road

Re: ran until parked

Didn't they all run until parked? My dad drove every car and truck on to his property in the 50's, 60's and 70's, about a dozen total, that were going to be his retirement. When the time came, they were so bad I sold them for scrap prices to a vintage junk yard in Junction City Oregon because each one had at least one part worth saving on it. He thought he had $100K worth of cars....we advertised Statewide for two weeks (it was a living estate sale, County took the property under emmient domain) and no one else would buy them. I know of a lot of cars in my neighborhood that are slowing returning to the earth waiting for the restoration to start "some day".

Re: ran until parked

Date stamp might be the year and day the camera that took the photo was made.

I see the same thing price wise around here. More $$ asking price than some decent runners. The "my brother in law watches all the online auctions and car flipper shows on Velocity and he says my rust bucket 3/4 ton with a 300 lb hitch bumper on the back is worth 10K because it has "great patina" Sundrome.

48 Chev 3100 that will run a 292 Six.
71 GMC 2500 that is getting a Cad 500 transplant.
77 C 30 dualie, 454, 4 speed with a 10 foot flatbed and hoist. It does the heavy work and hauls the projects around.

>>> "with a 300 lb hitch bumper on the back "

My 57 SS BBW had one of those on it when I got it. Took 2 guys and a floor jack to install it. I was parked at a traffic light in Phx when I got rear-ended by a lawyer driving a brand new black Lexus. His front end didn't like that bumper at all. Shiny new bumper cover was laying on the ground, broken/pulverized Lexus junk all over the street. I thought my truck was completely undamaged but later I found a small smudge of black on the part that stuck out, where the hitch ball goes.

Some things are just Good and Right.

Re: ran until parked

Looked in the back yard at a local yard sale this morning. 29 Dodge 1 ton, and three mid 1930's Grahams. The owner, in his 70's, with junk piled so high he could not even get to them, said he was going to restore them "soon". He does have a 54 and 56 2 ton for sale for $1500 each on another property. Said a few years ago he sold his 25 car collection of 1915 to early 30's cars and was disappointed he only got an average of $350 for them a well advertised public auction...
