Radiator width

I recently bought a fan shroud for my 72 K-10 w/sb 350 and par for the course with the way my luck is going on this build, it was to wide for my current radiator. I see that there are two different mounting positions for the right (passenger side) top mount. My current radiator is using the inner mount position, which gives me a measurement of 26-1/2" center to center on the mounts. Using the outer most mounting position, this gives me 28 1/2", which looks like it would allow me to use the shroud.

Does anyone know of a direct fit radiator that would just drop in without any modifications? Reading reviews from various sellers, it seems no one is really happy with the fit. I was hoping to steer clear of the plastic/aluminum ones, but at this point, I just need something that will work

Doing a search, I found Radiators.com which has a warehouse in my area and they have a 28 x 17 x 2 Inch Core Dimension | Brass Tanks | Copper Core | Three Row | Stock Construction for $392 (and a 4 core for $432)

Entering my info, I entered a Suburban (because it has a better description of the rad) Would they mount the same that the pickup? They seem to be the same model # for the rad. Are there any cheaper alternatives?

If you don't mind aluminum, Champion makes a direct fit, it's model number CC369. It comes in 2 row, 3 row, or 2 row with 1 inch rows. Drops in with original mounts and shroud, no fan rubbing what-so-ever. Entropy is another company that makes a drop-in they say. I can't speak to the quality as I don't have one, but those that do haven't complained. Best of luck!

That aluminum looks like the way to go, especially being around $230, which is $100-$200 less than the oem I was looking at. I guess they all come with the trans cooler lines though, which I don't need. $227 from Jegs with free ship ($216 at Amazon, free ship)

Give ebay a try. Many times you can get it there for the same price or cheaper. I got the 2 row with 1 inch rows for 210 shipped. Yes, they do come with trans cooler line bosses, but they are capped with plastic when shipped, and for a cleaner install you can use pipe plugs. Best of luck with your purchase!

What you have is a radiator original to a 6 cyl that never came with fan shroud.
Any replacement radiator you buy will be the wider width radiator.
I recommend a replacement copper/brass radiator. Aluminum is fine, but depending on brand you may end up with fitment issues due to tank seems being different and not fitting down into the saddles correctly.

I lucked out today. Before ordering a new one, I thought I'd take a trip to a somewhat local pick-a-part, because they have listed a 70 and 71 C-10 in their inventory.

First stop was the 71, and it was pretty much picked clean, other than side marker lights, a decent seat, clean frame and decent front bumper. I was to lazy to get the seat an bumper though. On to the 70, and sure enough, it still had the radiator and the sb 350. I took the rad,brackets, all of the pulleys, (minus the ps, again to lazy) fan, alt brackets, nice hood and a bunch of small misc stuff oh, and found a 4x4 center cap just lying on the ground. All for $125. I already installed the rad and it dropped right in, 4x4 shroud perfectly in place and no leaks!
