Dumbo door mirrors replacement glass?

Does anyone sell just the mirror anymore? I'm pits-deep in a door refurb and have the mirrors taken apart. Passenger side is OK but the drivers side has a bunch of scratches in the glass and I'd like to replace just the mirror if I can. Just can't find them...

Re: Dumbo door mirrors replacement glass?

John, I just replaced the side mirror glass on my driver's side mirror. I took the old glass (broken in my case) to a local glass shop, and they cut me a new mirror piece. Only cost me $20.

I've done just that a couple of times J. I used silicone to glue it in. Held fine.

Re: Dumbo door mirrors replacement glass?

Thanks Greg, I'll have to do that for the sport mirrors on my 79. Autozone used to keep replacement mirror glass for the dumbo mirrors in stock but I was having trouble finding them on their website. I changed the search phrase and they came up, they still stock them but are limited to inventory on hand and won't be ordering more. So if you need one it's a good time to buy. I just drove to the closest store and got driver and passenger replacements.

Re: Dumbo door mirrors replacement glass?

I got my replacement mirror glass at Pep Boys - don't know if they still carry them. I glued them in place with RTV caulking I had in the shed - still in place 10 years later.
