Generator light stays on when truck off...after new alternator.
I can't figure it out...light stays on ...truck is off...after the new alt install....

Just want to confirm, if you take the key out of the ignition, the alt light stays on? Did you upgrade from ext to int regulated alternator?

My truck does this if I turn the key to the far left, left of the off position - not sure if that is some sort of accessory setting but might be something to check. If I remember correctly "off" is the notch to the right of that.

Hey guys yes I have the key out I upgraded to a new alternator the internal regulated alternator change had already been done

I'm getting 12.32 volts on the number one terminal of the alternator with the power off,..I'm thinking I have a short inside the alt?

Sounds like the alt. has a shorted diode.
