to much rust,,,, gonna hack it up

Bought a 69 K5 blazer, just to look at it, you would think not to bad of shape, however after removing the top and the doors and the mat in the floorboard I found that someone alone the way had sprayed that styrofoam stuff in the windsheild post and the A pillar and rocker's. This led to alot of rot under the paint in area's that are very important, so my plan is to get a better windshield frame and I found a 71 truck cab that has great firewall,floorboards and A pillars, I plan to cut the front of the cab off and intergrade it with the blazer floorboard then cut the top of the windshield post and replace it with the blazer WS frame. Gonna step cut the truck floorboard so I can tie into the supports under the floor. Messurements are key with this, but I feel this will be easier than cutting and trying to replace every other patch panel involved.
Has anyone done this on here before???
advice or imput will be excepted in a positive way....

I have done the same thing. It's fairly easy, just keep all the original metal to reference until you are completely finished. I cut the roof off the cab of a pickup, kept the floor and firewall intact and just mated it to the bedfloor.

The blazer specific windshield header is spot welded on, I would suggest drilling out the spot welds on the original and replacing it that way rather then trying to weld the windshield posts. That is if the header is usable which going by the description of the rest of the truck I would expect it to be rusted out as well. They do make a reproduction header but it is fairly poor quality but still workable.

I had planned to cut the floor right behind where the front of the seat mounts.
Im gonna step cut the floor and floor support ribs so instead of butting the metal together the support ribs will be staggered from the floor itself,

Well after looking at your swap, I've decided that your way would be the better route to take, I've got the roof cut off the cab and ready to start separating the floor from the bed of blazer, yes how did you strip that paint off???

Yes you can! I just cut a 1971 pickup cab for my 69 blazer, the blazer firewall, A pillers, and floor board were rusted out. Truck cab had a rooted roof but the rest was pretty decent shape, so after some detailed messurements and a lil help from member 69-72 the rest is history, not that I'm finished but well on my way......

Yes the cab is all the same with the exception of the windshield header which can be added. The rear of the cab floor needs to be altered which is hardest part, you need to straighten out the metal and form it to a right angle to mate up with the bulkhead the rear floor attaches to.

If you do use the entire cab just remember that the gas pedal linkage is different from 69 - 72 so you need to modify that area on the cab.

You got that right,lol I worked all day drillingout spotwelds, but it's ready to put the right angle bend in it now, then to sand blasting...

I clamped a long heavy piece of flat steel to the floor and bent/ hammered against it so I could get a nice straight bend.
