AD truck heaters
What has been your experience with aftermarket heaters? (heater only, no A/C).

no experience with aftermarket heater,
but I have a complete original heater with good core and all parts from a 53 if you want to go original. |

I just installed a gen2 vintage air unit. Awesome fit. Easy to install. Stays way out of the way. You can't even see it unless you look way under the dash.

Most of the Vintage Air heat only units are small enough to tuck up out of the way where you don't see them.
I've got a bunch of old standard and deluxe heaters in the shed and by the time a guy got done refurbishing one with new paint, a new (and expensive) core and a new heater control valve the cost would as much or more than a new aftermarket unit. I'm not about to trust a 60 year old heater core on a road trip. That won't matter in my truck as it is getting a combo heat/air unit this go around as we have too many days up around 100 to not want air plus I plan some serious extended road trips in the truck when it is done.

I just checked Classic parts to look at prices for the stuff to fix my stock fresh air heater and 44.95 for a 12V motor and 169.95 for a heater core runs the tab up above the price of a new vintage Air unit before you start bargain hunting on the Vintage Air heater. That doesn't include paint, decals or other refurb pieces for the stock heater.
