Is there a rad-shroud for a straight 6???????
Is there such a thing as a rad shroud for the straight six? If so, does any body have one?

When I had the six in my stepside, it only had a plate that mounted on top of the radiator and was about a foot or so wide. It's only purpose that I could see was to keep you from getting hit by the fan. Don't know if they actually ever made a functional shroud or not
Anyone else know? Oh and I still have it somewhere in all my conversion junk pile

I've got a 72 4x4 with the 250 inline and all it has is the metal top fan shroud. I've wondered the same thing as in is there a full fan shroud for a straight six?

my 67 292 had a complete shroud when I got it. I'll check with the PO to see if he installed it but it looks original to me.

all i have is the metal plate on top too - I just thought that it would be an ez cooling upgrade. Will any other shroud fit? A BB shroud? A SB shroud? With air? Without air? I know the six if the first thing people throw away with our trucks BUT I cant afford that just yet so I'd like to do a few upgrades to my six & make it more reliable... I dont think I want an elec. fan - I'd like to keep the stock fan OR put a clutch fan on with a shroud... Anybody know what works?

My 70 GMC had a make-shift shroud on it when I bought it. I saw from the labels on it that it was from a vehicle equipped with a V-8. It has screws in each side as if it were made to part. There's plenty of clearance, and it DOES make a difference in the amount of air pulled thru when just at idle. I'll check tomorrow and get what info I can off it.
Hope this might help some. Billy G

it does run a bit hot BUT I know that the carb has seen betterdays & the timing is set weird... I'll get those fixed soon enough. I think a shroud would be a good addition to my combo & who knows, if I hot-rod my 6, it'll take all it can to cool it. My experience has been with the 327 in my belair that 3 cores, 160stat, a clutchfan + a shroud works pretty good in hot HUMID weather upto +36C (about 98F) IF i dont push it.. i'm just thinking that the 6 with a 2core rad, no shoud & a regular fan may need a little help - esp. with 3.70 rear gears. thanks to all for your shroud suggestions & I'd like to hear about any L6 shoud combos!

The finger protector is all they came with. I doubt any other stock shroud will fit becouse of the added length of an inline engine.

SB fits!
SB shroud fits real good with a wide SB radiator. Just move the top and bottom mounts to the V8 position...better radiator and a shroud make a lot of difference. I had one stock 250 with this combination from GM. It was listed as a HD cooling option in a fleet or special order truck. You can see a piece of the one I did here...maybe.
