Re-using 2010 rear suspension on 59 frame
I am currently building a '59 3200 step side, we are cutting it down to a short bed and installing a MII front suspension. The drive-train will be coming from a 2010 GMC Sierra. I am a total newbie at this but learning as I go. My question is would it be possible to re-use the rear suspension from the donor truck? From what I have read the 2010 springs are about 8" longer than the 1959 set. I imagine I would just need to relocate the perches on to the 59 frame to accommodate the larger springs?
Does this make any sense? the other alternative is going with a lowering kit from TCI. It looks like this kit has new perches that bolt on, so that got me thinking about the possibility to re-use the donor trucks suspension and save myself some $$$. Any thoughts, suggestions, help is greatly appreciated. Thanks, Brian |

You may want to take a measurement for your runningboard support. I know on my 54, going to a longer spring will put the perch into it.
You'll also need to get frame and shackle mounts for the 2010 springs. |

Thanks for the reply I appreciate it.
I'll need to check that measurement out. I hope to get the frame and shackle mounts with the rest of the parts from the donor. Hopefully it all will fit. |
