New windshield installed :-)
I wanted to replace my original foggy windshield since I got this truck almost 2 years ago. I was hesitant because I thought I was going to find rot behind it. Well today I picked up a new windshield at a local shop for $125. I got a Precision seal from Classic Parts for $25. So I removed the old windshield and was pleasantly surprised that it was a little rusty here and there but not bad at all! It's SO nice having a CLEAR windshield finally. I managed to remove the original one, clean up the pinch weld area, paint my dash, put in new defrost vents and install the new windshield in 3 1/2 hours by myself. Not too bad.

Re: New windshield installed :-)
Looks good. Impressive doing by yourself . I paid $200 and spent 2 hrs helping the meathead who showed alone to install mine.

Re: New windshield installed :-)
Thanks! My wife was going to help me with it but I decided to give it a shot. The rope worked fine for the bottom and sides. But then it got cut on the one top corner. So a plastic squeegee typ tool came in handy to finish it up.

Re: New windshield installed :-)
Apparently you were happy with the seal. Whether or not I use an NOS is pending.

Re: New windshield installed :-)
Good job on the installing.
71CHEVYSHORTBED402, Using a NOS rubber gasket may sound like a good idea but in the long run it maybe as bad as a poor aftermarket one. You are looking at a 40 year old gasket to perform as it would have back then is questionable. I wouldn't look any further than a good aftermarket one. They all will work if you take your time and use the correct tools to install it with. I have used several and they all went well.

Re: New windshield installed :-)
I don't know, I kind of like the old windshield. It gave you that classic frosted-glass frame look.

I got it out without breaking it. It's yours if you want it.
