how do i replace this piece of rubber? is it neccessary to take out the vent window assembly?

thanks for any suggestions.

Mine need to be replaced too, when u find out, I'd like to watch and learn....here's a TTT.

The vent window assembly has to come out.

There are little rivets that you drill out and disassemble the window assembly. After replacing the rubber, you have to re-rivet it back together.

Be sure and use GM rubber, it fits much nicer. I had to redo mine twice before I finally fessed up for the money for the good rubber. It's much more supple than aftermarket rubber.

We sell GM tooled weather stripping along with the rivets and rivet setting tool. We also sell new chrome vent window assemblies. We used to rebuild vent windows for customers all over the USA and believe me I was a very happy man when they came out with new assemblies. e-mail me and i'll send you the nitty gritty on rebuilding vent windows step by step.

I did my drivers door last week My first try at doing one. Kind of a PIAbut got it done OK Used aftermarket rubber and seemed OK except a little skimpy on the outside sealing surface . If I can do it anybody can
