Original price of these old Trucks?

How can we find out the original price of our trucks?
For example: 1959 GMC 100 "Deluxe cab"

I would also wonder how much that would be in todays money

Re: Original price of these old Trucks?

Around $1,800. That would be $14,625 in todays dollars, but remember the original truck did not have a AC, disc brakes, ABS, air bags, etc. Current stripped GMC Canyon prices seem to be around $21,000.

Re: Original price of these old Trucks?

I had to hunt but the original "base"price for a 59 fleetside was 2002.00 and I imagine a stepside was a few hundred dollars less.

Up until the early 60's at least most trucks came from the factory pretty bare bones with not many factory goodies on them except maybe Deluxe cab and the extra chrome trim. Most of the stuff like radios and mirrors and extra lights were added at the dealers or by the buyer after the sale.

77 C 30 dualie, 454, 4 speed with a 10 foot flatbed and hoist. It does the heavy work and hauls the projects around.

Re: Original price of these old Trucks?

I bought a 54 Ford pickup new. It was $1250. The only options were V-8 engine & heater.

Re: Original price of these old Trucks?

I found the base Chevy at about $1600 and assumed the GMC would be a few bucks more? Cameo was about $2150.

Re: Original price of these old Trucks?

I was asking cost difference, frame was the same, engines and radiator support different, obvious sheet metal, trim and dash differences.

Re: Original price of these old Trucks?

GMC were typically more expensive compared to the Chevy as GMC's were the boss' truck and Chevy's for the workers lol Not sure a price difference, but at least a few bills more.

*3166 Carryall 4WD Endgate 114" *3333.00 261.00 40.00 3634.00

Most expensive truck and rarest on that list I'd think. 4x4 Burb with an end gate, don't think I've ever seen one in person. Seen lots of 2wds around for the Taskforce series though.
