purple. original colour?

i have a 69 c-10 that i picked up a few months ago. it needs a new cab so i started dissassembling the components off of the old cab. under every bolt and nut is this metallic purple paint. i scratch down and under that is bare metal. right now the truck is in a red oxide primer, but before that it was navy blue and under that is this purple. my father-in-law , who is a old chevy nut, insists that this is in no way an original colour. the options sticker in the glove box is long gone and the vin tells me that this truck came with a V-8, and was made in oshawa ON. does anyone know for certain that this truck was not originally purple if it is original i NEED the paint code.

Not original. Maybe a good repaint many years ago, but not original.

Back then, you could special order oddball colors. It COULD be factory, it depends how much the dealer wanted to work to sell the truck..

It *could* be original, but it's hard to say.

I've seen some pretty wierd paint combos!
Remember, these are trucks, they were for WORK! LOL!

Fleets could be ordered in almost any color.

Once had a '69 'Burb with factory combo of BRIGHT fleet YELLOW
and a standard Dark Red interior! FUGLY!!
1/2 ton 4X4, with a 350, 3 on the tree, 4:11 Posi, CST, no less!
Glovebox sticker still intact.

Fleet spec'd. for a large area oil refinery, originally, as a supervisor/surveyor truck!

As a side note, this truck had the ONLY set of lower door carpets I've ever seen. Untouched original truck.
Anyone heard of these?
Original carpet material, edges hemmed, same as the floor carpet, no cardboard backer, factory screws/washers, glue.
Sagging, ripped, baggy, worn...........definitly on the truck when new.

Mike

My truck had the lower door carpets and the kick panels were caperted too....all factory. I have had the truck for 17 years and it only had 45k miles when I bought it.

I've seen this truck in person and either someone did a REALLY thorough re-paint on it, or this purple was factory. It looks exactly like a factory paint job. Under every bolt there is purple. Then it was painted dark blue with a white roof, and now it sits in red oxide primer. I have seen this truck around town for many years but it has always been blue and white for the times that I have seen it

Purple was OE in Canada. I know where there is an original purple truck that was that way since day one.
