Cheapest shipping options
I'm in the process of restoring a 69 c10 and looking for the cheapest shipping option. I'll need two bedsides, doors, hood and both fenders since i'm putting a 67 front end on. It looks like everyone wants at least $125.00 per oversized part and I understand it cost a lot to ship big, heavy panels.
I may even make a road trip to the wharehouse to save on some shipping. I'm in Mobile,Al and have seen one in Ocala Fl and one close to Atlanta Ga,so that's about a 5 hour road trip that I may have to take. Any input would be greatly appreciated....Thanks! |

I noticed that one member mentioned Fastenal for shipping big parts. They are basically a nut & bolt supplier.(I know they supply a lot of stuff) I didn't even know they would ship parts. I think a lot of parts supply company's may start doing this for extra revenue.... LockDoc

Re: Cheapest shipping options
Grayhound also has reasonable shipping rates on the bigger stuff if there is a terminal close to each party involved... LockDoc

Re: Cheapest shipping options
This probably won't help for really large truck freight parts but for smaller heavy items like wheels, exhaust headers, intake manifolds etc I typically use Worldwide Express at www.shipnex.com. The rates are typically half that of the other carriers and the best part is they actually subcontract through UPS and/or FedEx depending on where its going. You simply print a label at home then drop the package off at one of the retail locations. I've saved a bunch over the last year since I found out about it.

Re: Cheapest shipping options
Whatever you do, have them build crates for your parts and rigidly attach the parts to the bottoms of the crates---Unless you like body shop repair bills.

Re: Cheapest shipping options
Oops, I just asked basically the same question, shipping a a real beach ain't it. Right now I'm searching the board sellers for someone near me selling what I need. Not likely I think junkyards around here scrap anything older than ten. But maybe I'll get lucky.
