1966 GMC Cab to axle measurements needed

I have a 1966 GMC 2500 dually one ton with a 133" wheel base. The standard 8' wheel base is 127", I believe. Could someone please give me the cab to rear axle center and what's then cab to bed spacing on an 8' fleet side.

I'm trying to decide between using stock 8' bed or making a custom step side box. Anyone have a 133" with a standard bed and can you post a picture (please). She is going to be a working girl , so I will be adding a light duty hoist under any bed I go with.

With a 133" wheelbase you could order a 9ft. Stepside box. You see them for sale often and actually there's a 63 for sale with one on it on craigslist. The 9ft box has 4 stake pockets in it, the 8ft box has 3 and the Shortbox has 2 along each side.
Many years ago I saw a Dually where the guy used the front panel from a Fleetside on a Stepside box and widened the Stepside tailgate to the dimension required. Making a custom tailgate would not be that difficult if your ok with it not being stock. There's also wider fiberglass stepside fenders you can buy but then you loose the steps.
He used the Fleetside inner fenders to give clearance for the inner dual wheel. Different but nice at the same time.

Tx, Az and Ca may see 9' bodies offen, but I'm in New England. I've been looking on CL and fleaBay.

I'm strongly considering fabricating a 9' box and mounting 60-66 fenders and steps on it. Do you have additional specs on stepside bodies?

Anyone got steps for a 9' stepper?

IF you are running the ORG. rear axle with duals then you will have to have wheel tubs in the step side bed and you may have to also widen the fenders to cover the tires OR change the rear axle to a later "dually pickup" rear axle and widen the fenders to fit

I have the original dually rear, I think I may get a 36" max (allowing clearane) between the inners

The 63 Layout & Bodybuilders Instruction Drawings book does not give the dimensions to the outside of the the dual wheels nor the dimension between the wheels each side of the axle because of all the different RPO"S for tire and wheel choice.
It does have a few measurements for a 9ft box though I can't seem to get the new scanner to work yet.

Took the fire department utility body off. Holy crap was that heavy!

I measured cab to axle center line is 59". Spring perch to spring perch is 43". Outside tire to outside tire is 76" ,(cab width) The tires are 18" split rim wheels.

I measured the 8' step from a 1987 I have, the inside of the box is 50". Outside fender to fender is 76"

I still would like to get the measurement on an 8' Fleetside bed. I'd love to be able to make a Fleetside work. Tubed dually bed would look sharp (to me)

if you are wanting to do a fleet bed, you could just lengthen it 6 inches between the wheel well and the front bed panel

-then if you wanted a true 9fth bed, put another 6 inches between the wheel well and the gate.
it would almost be the opposite of what guys do to make a long fleet a short.

I would be all in for that. I have pm'd anyone I've seen posting about going from long bed to a short bed. I can use their cut outs to make a longer long bed
