Shackle flip/ axle flip

I have a 72 k5 4x4 the previous owner lifted the truck in the rear by installing a shackle flip kit in the rear. This involved cutting the factory spring hangers and installing new flipped ones . I need to bring the truck back to stock height to fit in my garage and also it looks kinda stupid with the rear wheel almost touching e front of the wheel well. Trying to find factory spring hangers isn't working out so I came up with a new plan, looking for thoughts on this idea.
The truck is roughly 5 inches over stock in the rear, I am thinking of doing a axle flip like you would to lower a sport truck. This would bring my rear end down a little over 5 inches. I would weld new hangers to the axle and put it on top of the spring pack. Can't really come up with a good reason not to so looking for outside perspective on reasons not to.

Personally, I would just keep looking for a donor trucks stock spring mounts. Or make a set same way the lift hangers are made.

This^^^. They are there and will bolt right in making life much easier and your truck much happier and stock looking. One small change usually means 3 other small changes and then a snowball effect. Be patient and do it right.
