Cab corner, floor pan, cab mount, rocker panel HELP !!!
Hi I am new to the site and new to truck restoration. I have a 72 c25/c2500 GMC (aka Chevy c20) I just got all my replacement panels but I am unsure where to start. I need to replace the driver side floor pan, both cab corners, both rear door pillars, both inner and outer rocker panels. I was planning to start on the cab corners first but I noticed they weld into the door pillar, what would be the best plan of attack to get it done correctly ? I have the cab on the frame and plan on leaving it on due to lack of space. Any help would be greatly appreciated !

Re: Cab corner, floor pan, cab mount, rocker panel HELP !!!
Here is the best way that I've found. Cut the outer rocker off then the front and rear pillars. I went just about the line made by the outer rocker and came straight across. If you do cut that much out it makes it two tons easier to place the inner rocker floor piece just slide it in from the side. Lay it down on the old floor then you have a line to go by to cut the new floor with. Once the inner rocker/floor piece is in then fit in your foot well. I placed it next to the floor and then marked from the outside [mostly]where to cut and trim. Once that was tacked in place I trimmed the front lower pillar. Once it was fitting I tacked it in place. Next is the rear pillar I held it in place and marked from the back side where to cut it . Then fit it and tack it in. After all of that your ready to fit up the rocker and make sure everything is ok, as far as fender fitment and door gaps and such. Then off with the rocker weld everything up put the rocker back on check it once more to make sure everything is in place the n plug weld the rocker in. Grind the welds and your done. Easy peasy! just kidding but really it is simple like putting a puzzle together it takes a little time , and some pie cuts[ and some hammering] to make everything fit. I've got pics in my phone that I haven't downloaded yet but I'll try soon. Jim

Re: Cab corner, floor pan, cab mount, rocker panel HELP !!!
what ever you do, make sure your doors are mounted before you weld in the rockers!!!! try and have your gaps as close as possible before welding, it will save you lots of grief later down the road, believe me! also, pay close attention to the gap between the outer rocker panel and the the inner rocker/outer floor pan, this is where your wiring/and weather stripping are attached, along with the sill plates!!!
Good luck! Ben |

My biggest concern is that there is literally nothing left for me to go off of. The p/o decided to install 2x6 rocker panels I'll try to upload pics
