Should I just park it in a barn?
How did I end up with two of these? Bought the'68 with the intent of adding disc brakes and changing the color to Hugger Orange. Then along comes a 1971 that's already orange, with,of course, disc brakes.
While I have no use for the '68, I hate to sell it, as it's so original. Not an ounce of bondo. Never been cut for aux gas tanks. Maybe I'll just park it in a barn. Nice truck, but I'm really a sucker for Hugger Orange. Posted via Mobile Device |

Re: Should I just park it in a barn?
Most guys end up with extra parts but you end up with an extra truck!
You could just give it to me but I doubt you'll see the wisdom in that. |

Boy if I had the extra dough Id take that 68 off your hands. It has my favorite paint combo ... Is it a long bed?

Yep park it in a barn. That's what I would do if my barn wasn't already full.....

Re: Should I just park it in a barn?
if you have a barn, then it's a no-brainer... Glad to see you found another that came hugger, because I'd hate to see that gorgeous 68 anniv gold go away. Both are gorgeous trucks, keep em and keep em original! (or, do whatever you like with them, they're yours, you can't go wrong)

Re: Should I just park it in a barn?
Park it in the barn unless you are driving it when you aren't driving the other. The rules state that you can have more than one. As far as painting the '68 goes, don't do anything stupid. What I meant to say is, "...don't do anything, Stu Pid."

Re: Should I just park it in a barn?
Park the '68 in the barn, forget about it for another 47 years and presto, you have a very valuable "barn find" worth 10 times more than it should. Of course, leave all the dust on it when you "find" it again.

Re: Should I just park it in a barn?
It's a long bed. Short bed trucks are worthless to me as I use all eight feet pretty often.
I don't have a barn! I'll have to find somebody else's barn! Quote:
If it wasn't a 50th, it would prolly be orange by now. |

Re: Should I just park it in a barn?
IMO
The short term consequences of "parking it in a barn" are that it will start to leak from non use or vermin will set up house, etc. But, at least you still have it. At some point in time you might want another or heaven forbid something happen to the hugger orange you have a back up. Put it in a protective bubble. put it on the roof with a weather vane attached. sell it. Put the brakes etc. you originally planned. Or, (drumroll) Dig a hole out back, push the truck in, fill it full of dirt, and call it a planter. Do whatever you want cause it's your truck. Since they are so close I would probably sell the one I liked the least, but that's me, not you.

Another idea...
Drive one even numbered years, the other odd number years. |

Re: Should I just park it in a barn?
If it's going to be an unnecessary distraction and expense to keep it, and you really don't want it but are just a little attached, then sell it. I always have a hard time selling stuff but as soon as it's gone, the attachment is gone too. But I have 15 cars so I totally support keeping both lol

I will be glad to clear out a spot in my barn next to my medium red 72 chevy truck and my 72 Flame orange El Camino and my wife's red 72 Malibu convertible just to make you feel better.
