I really hate electrical. Help?
So I'm almost finished with my rewiring of my 55. Here is my issue. I have a left turn signal when my headlights are Off. A right turn signal when my lights are on. And when my lights are off the right selector switch my hazards activate. Ummmmmm not gonna lie I'm stumped. I thought wires on this bad boy were supposed to be easy lol.

Stock or after market column and turn signal switch? Which wiring are you using?

Re: I really hate electrical. Help?
Did you forget to ground the body?
All current flowing from a source has to flow back to it. Since the body and frame are part of the circuit, they have to be electrically tied to the negative side of the battery, as does the alternator case. The big red/+ battery cable goes to the starter. The big black/_ cable goes to the block. Then smaller wires ground the block to frame and/or body and there's often another small ground from the battery to a fender or core support. Then there are ground straps from the body to frame, etc. When the truck was new there was no rust. Now there may be no or poor electrical connections. |

Re: I really hate electrical. Help?
you have the power wires reversed between the flashers and the turn signals.
The white wire in the column connector is the white wire from the stop light switch. That is the power that is switched with the turn signal switch.

Re: I really hate electrical. Help?
sounds like it may be a grounding issue. try running a ground wire directly from one of the bolts on the tail light bracket to the frame where the bumper bolts on. the tail lights are self grounding thru the bracket, but if that ground isnt strong enough, a separate ground wire may do the trick.
or you have wires connected wrong. or both LOL. i feel your pain. wiring lights can be frustrating

Re: I really hate electrical. Help?
I went overkill on the grounding, use an old #4 battery cable between bed, cab, and front clip to frame. Used stock battery braided cable neg to fire wall, fire wall to block. Grounds and wrong size (too big or small) have given me fits over the years.
