alternator bracket - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

Just swapped out my 55 amp alternator for a 100 amp unit, and got to wondering about the upper bracket (see picture). I can't find anything that looks like this in any of the catalogs or online. It's a small block with a short water pump, and the bracket has a long adjusting slot and a short base. Anybody recognize this?

I've fought that battle and think you really want one with a bit of a curve to it. The curve at the bottom may be more than the one I had had though.

what didn't fit from the 55 amp to 100 amp alternator?
they should be the same

Everything fit--it was a direct swap. But I was looking to perhaps change the bracket configuration and could not find an identical upper to the one I have.

I think he is looking for a second one Ogre. One of those "This works but I have no idea of where the parts originated" thing.

I've got probably a dozen alternator/generator brackets hanging in the shed and might possibly be able to tell you where three of them came from originally.

Me too, but know idea which parts rig they came off us. I used one to make my adjustment arm, slotted end welded to flat bar. The curved end ones offer better adjustment, I had a straight one, but outside of the sweet spot it hit the alt. fan blades.

Yeah, I know I shouldn't get too wrapped up in this--the bracket works, after all--but as I replace and upgrade parts I like to try and figure out where stuff came from and what's correct, even though the whole truck is a hodgepodge: '56 body, '70 motor, late '60s front end, etc.

My ongoing truck projects: 48 Chev 3100 that will run a 292 Six. 71 GMC 2500 that is getting a Cad 500 transplant. 77 C 30 dualie, 454, 4 speed with a 10 foot flatbed and hoist. It does the heavy work and hauls the projects around.
