steering column shift light indicator wire.

Hello Forum, Need a little help, Have a 72 lwb, doing the wiring and ran into a situation when trying to figure out where the wire that lights up the shift indicator hooks into and how it is routed? Anyone have some enlightenment on the subject? Looked at wiring diagrams and could not find info.

Last post on the Forum was help on drip rail chrome. Not a lot of positive comments but was determined to install it. After many hours of research and talking with numerous body shops, the most common advise was to glue it on. I tried numerous times to install it correctly, could get a coupe of pieces on correctly, but in the end I glued it on and it turned out quite well. Used a 2 part epoxy (clear) 5 minute set time, installed and taped to drip rail. Hope this will help anyone that wants to install the stainless drip mold..

Re: steering column shift light indicator wire.

If it is a non-tilt column. The wire is not actually a wire, it's actually a fiber optic light tube. It should have a light socket on the end of it. It plugs in one of the gauge light sockets on the back of the dash.

Re: steering column shift light indicator wire.

Any socket will work with the exception of the turn indicator ,high beam, or brake warning. Here is the most suggested.

Is the fiber optic only on the non-tilt columns? I have a tilt and can't get the light to work. There is a black wire that has been cut at the bottom of the column near the firewall. Can that just be connected to power?

For tilt, start at post 7 in this thread. The tilt columns use #1445 bulbs.
