I am looking for a ground up wiring harness that will not cost me 500 bucks, it that practical or is that the going rate I do not need anything fancy or 50 circuits or plug and play, I will splice and hook it all up but do not want one that is 500 bucks attached is a picture of the current state of the truck if anyone was following my prior thread.
thanks

you could probably pick one up for about half the original price. Just a thought..

Re: 70 Wiring Harness
Not to come across rude, so please don't get irritated, but I wouldn't really cut corners here. Take a really good look at the available kits and what you get with each and how much work is required with it. You might find a "cheap" harness and save a couple hundred dollars compared to a "better" harness, but will it be worth it in the end. It looks like you already are spending a lot of time to do things right with your truck. I recommend the American Autowire Classic Update Harness. It is around $500 I think, and I know you say that you don't want one that expensive, but for the money it does provide a few upgrades over the original and some other harnesses. It is pretty well complete, has an updated fuse panel, plus things like all the wires are labeled, so you don't have to guess or try to trace a wire back to the fuse box. In my opinion, that alone should help assure that you get things right the first time and it should save some time and headaches getting it done. Good luck with whatever you end up doing, but before you make a decision, check out all that is available and what you really get with each.

Re: 70 Wiring Harness
I just put a 20 circuit speedway harness in my 71. Out the door with shipping is less than 200 and if you have never ordered with them register and they will send you a free shipping code. It will come out less than 175. To me it is a pretty good deal, woes are labeled every 6 inches and the instructions are decent. They also have a 12 circuit kit for cheaper.

Re: 70 Wiring Harness
No problem, glad to help. If you're not already converted to an internal regulated alternator it would be a great time. I got mine from autozone part #7127 63 amp 29.99 with 11.00 core charge. It's a valuecraft reman, but works great.

I don't have experience with the 12 but if any of you get the 20 circuit and have hangups or questions on it I can help with it.

Re: 70 Wiring Harness
I have had great luck with "Painless wiring". Very easy install in a jeep at least.
