New clutch now starter is noisy
I finally got around to putting a new clutch and flywheel in my 70 k2500. From the first start, the starter has been a lot noise than before. Since then I have put a new starter in to be safe but the noise remains. Does anyone have any tips to fix this? I cannot seem to find any shimming info for the manuals as they are of a different design that the automatic starters... Any ideas are appreciated.

Do you have a starter brace like in this link.

Re: New clutch now starter is noisy
I had a lot of "chatter" after a clutch job on the SM465 in my '71 GMC Jimmy 4x4.
It turned out the tin on the cover was in contact with the flywheel teeth. Bent it back and noise went away. No shimming.

I do not have the brace (did that come with our body style?). I don't know if that is the problem or not... ill have to take a look again on the shield. That sounds like a good place to look.
