Speedo Cable through frame
So, I'm stripping the frame down getting ready to paint, and I'm having a little trouble getting the speedo cable removed.
I can't tell how to remove it from the frame. It runs right behind the shock mount, and I see a nut on one side (outside frame), and what looks like some kind of (plastic?) clip on the inside of the frame. Turning the nut just rotates everything. Just curious how this all comes apart before I start prying or gripping stuff and breaking things I would rather not break. Any advice here? |

Re: Speedo Cable through frame
Speedo cable or ebrake cable? Speedo cable doesn't run through the frame that I'm aware off. The forward ebrake cable does though. Any pics?

Re: Speedo Cable through frame
the e-brake on my 65 has a NOS cable that has a cylinder with 4 fingers that fan out on the inner frame side to make it tight and you can't pull it back through with the finger spread apart... never seen a plastic piece attached to them!!!

Re: Speedo Cable through frame
that's exactly it! So i just squeeze it then. Guess with all the gunk on there, I couldn't tell exactly what was going on, and didn't want to risk tearing it up.
THANKS! |

Re: Speedo Cable through frame
They install much easier than they come out. Just done putting a new stainless one in my stepside from inline tubes.
