Mechanical fuel pump ?

I've owned a lot Chevy's swapped engines put fuel pumps on. Swapping a new rebuilt 350 for the 250. Both fuel pumps I have or ever remember having got an in & out looking at them on line. The engine is a 77 most likely. looking at that yr. what's the 3rd hookup for?

Re: Mechanical fuel pump ?

That's a return line to you gas tank(s). If you have 3 lines coming off your fuel tank sender, that's the correct pump.

It's my understanding that the return line was used to help prevent vapor lock.
