need help figuring out new 3rd row seats
I need to add third row seats. I would like to add a 2007 3rd row. I have no idea how to mount the seat securely to the wood.
Need help figuring it out so I can get in into the body shop this month. Thanks Chris

See if the cross bars will line up for the bolts.
If not, then get some steel plate, drill a hole, then weld a nut to the plate. Smaller holes drilled into the plate can be used for small wood screws to hold the plate against the wood from the underside, that way you won't need someone to help you bold the seat bracket in from the inside.

Bob,
That is amazing!!!!! I really like that idea! how many hours did you put into it? I do not have the fab skills so that is something I would have to source out. I already have a little bit of a body lift to accommodate the cummins and dodge 1 ton chassis.

Re: need help figuring out new 3rd row seats
With a body lift you may not have to modify the frame rail so that will cut some time off. All in all we had roughly a week into that modification. I would imagine a shop would charge around 20 to 25 hours after your wood floor was removed. Our shop rate is $54.00 per hour so that would be $1080.00-$1350.00 plus the cost of the donor floor which would probably be around $500.00. Less if they have a Suburban with messed up quarter panels. The beauty of this mod is the seats just fit right in like they would in a factory 2005 Yukon XL. And, they won't pull out of the floor if the vehicle was in an accident. Your legs are also in a normal position and not pushed into your chest!!!

well I think you have a winning combination. I will have to call the junk yards to see what I can get one for. Again thank you for your link. this will make a huge difference in safety and piece of mind.

Re: need help figuring out new 3rd row seats
YouDaMan!
That's an awesome installation. I've been giving a lot thought to how to properly install and set-up a third row. Thanks for sharing. The other thing that I saw in a 2015 suburban that I REALLY liked was power third row seats that completely fold flat (without requiring the seat to be fully removed to gain payload). I had conceived of doing what you did with the rear deck out of a 2015, but good luck finding a donor!! (Or being able to afford the donor parts if found)!
