Which water pump

62 c/10, 350 SB. Long or short water pump or is there enough room that it doesn't matter?

Re: Which water pump

Both would fit and work, but all your brackets are probably from a short pump if they are original.

Re: Which water pump

If you want to use a mechanical fan you will most likely need to use the short water pump

Re: Which water pump

All trucks '72 and earlier originally came with short water pumps on both small blocks and big blocks. Most guys feel the need to go with the long water pump for some reason.

Going from 6 cylinder to 8. Don't have any brackets or pulleys yet. Starting from scratch..Will be mechanical fan. Thanks, this gives me a starting point.

Re: Which water pump

Keep in mind that changing water pumps from LWP-SWP or vice versa can change which side your alternator hooks up on.

My LWP on my big block places it on the pass side. If your is currently on the driver side you will want to go with a water pump and pulley system that will retain where it currently is to keep costs down.
