69 C10 12 bolt question
I am considering converting my rear drums to disc but cannot afford to go any wider because of my wheel/tire combo.
Does any one know if the width of a rear end with drum brakes is the same as one that had been converted to disc? Posted via Mobile Device |

Re: 69 C10 12 bolt question
It depends on the kit, but usually it is no more than the difference between the thickness of the rotor and the thickness of the drum. Figure 1/4"-3/8" for the rotor "hat" on the one piece rotor and that a drum is between a 1/16" and an 1/8". I would think this 1/4" max difference wouldn't be a deal killer, but my wheels are a really really close fit as well, and it m ight.

Sure. Width is the SAME. Rotor hat and drum mounting face are the same thickness.

Thanks for the replies.
For what it is worth, I called auto city classic to order the rear disc kit and their brake guy told me it would add between 1/8 and 1/4 inch on each side when I convert. They sell CCP parts. I have bought a lot of stuff from these guys over the years and have never been steered wrong. Just thought I'd pass it on. Fitz, what kit did you use where the measurements were the same?
