Stubborn Ball Joint
Installing a 2/4 drop on my 67 and cannot get the driver's side ball joint out. Passenger came out with a couple hits but driver's will not budge. Have tried a sledge and separator. Any tips?

Not sure unless you can use some heat on it. I can't remember if you can get to the spindle where the stud goes through it or not. I will have to check one of mine in the morning. Stay tuned.... LockDoc

Re: Stubborn Ball Joint
You may need a ball joint press. Those help a bunch on stubborn ball joints. It is a matter of removing the spindle and setting up the press then pressing it out. Most all parts store will have one to loan or rent. [that is one thing that the online stores cant do] Jim

Re: Stubborn Ball Joint
I just did this. I had to use two pickle forks on the drivers side upper ball joint for it to pop.

Re: Stubborn Ball Joint
If you are talking about getting the tapered part of the ball joint out of the spindle whacking the spindle with a 3 pound hammer should do it. If not hold a hammer behind the spindle while hitting it. To get the ball joint out of the control arm a ball joint press will do it without damaging the control arm. I have a pickle fork in my tool box that hardly ever gets used since I was shown how to hit the spindle to remove.
