Rear End Advise

I have a 1971 Chevy C10 2wd with leaf spring rear. My truck also has a 3/5 drop with a 2006 5.3L/ TH350 combo. My current rear end is a stock peg leg. I'm am looking to get a limited slip set up but with lower gears. In the near future I also want to install either a TH400 or 700r4.

My question is which gear ratio would be better suited for my setup. I was originally thinking 3:08 or 3:42 for my Th350, but unsure if that ratio would work well with the other transmissions.

What do you guys think?

3.73 or 4.11 would work great with a 700r4, depending what your requirements are for your truck. While I have a 700 and love it, you may want to look into a 2004r for your setup. It is geared a little different than a 700r4, but is similar in length to your 2004r so you "may" be able to keep your driveshaft with no mods. I say may because there's a lot of little variables that can change things.

Might just want to drop in a lunchbox locker until you decide what you want for a trans.

Why would you change from a TH350 to a TH400 the final outcome is the same at 1to1

TH200 4R for the win. Move crossmember to TH400 position and use your existing driveshaft. Order new indicator from Shift Works. Enjoy added performance of new transmission while saving up for 3.73 positraction.

no it wont b the same as the turbo 400 will get you less milage all things considered as they are power hogs
