Cab Tech Question... 73-80 81-87

I know that the cowl part under the windshield (where the wipers go) are different 73-80 vs 81-87 due to the fender upper bolts and catches for the hood hinges.

My question is has anyone tried to swap this parts between years and does it fit without being a major job?

I saw one done like that when I was looking for my truck..it looked like crap..could it be made to fit and look ok...probably..what made it look so bad was where the pillar joins the corner of the fender. That guy made no attempt to make it fit he just slapped a 84 front clip on a 79 cab.
