BFG 35/12.5/16.5 available again!

I see an availability date of early July for another run of BFG AT KOs. Fairly cheap at under $240 a tire but realize this may be the last time they are available. Ive been considering getting some Vintiques 16x8 rims and going with a 315/75 but notice BFG is phasing out 16 inch tires now as well.

Wondering if other companies are also getting rid of 16 inch LTs as well. Anyone hear of the 16 going away?

Anyone know of a steel 17inch rim that will take a stock 3/4 ton hubcap? I refuse to put tacky modern alloy wheels on my classic, any help appreciated

Re: BFG 35/12.5/16.5 available again!

Not sure what BFG's intentions are with other sizes. I bought 5 35 12.5 16.5 for my Jimmy just over a year ago thinking they might be gone for good. They had been reduced lots of places. I got them for $165 each at Summit.

This probably last time I do the 16.5 on my billet Centerlines, but I figure I've got 9 more years!

My friend runs a tire shop.
BFG is currently switching from the KO to the KO2 along with KM to the KM2. This is probably why you aren't seeing many 16s in a KO.

More sizes are still due out later this year to my understanding from the info he got from his distributors.

There are 9 16 inch tires listed so I don't think they are abandoning 16s. He has not heard anything about 16.5s. The last set he got in was last year.

Re: BFG 35/12.5/16.5 available again!

When i bought my new set of BFG 33" 16.5's at Discount tire they said that the demand was still there so they were gonna keep making them, this was about a year or so ago, this was about 3 months after Les Schwab told me they were going to be gone.

I hope they are still around cause i was thinking about buying a set of 35" down the road...

No idea what KO KO2 or KM KM2 mean ??

KO is the oler BFG All Terrain and KO2 the most recent. KM the older mud tire and KM2 the newer tread pattern and caracass.

Re: BFG 35/12.5/16.5 available again!

I've been looking and posting about 16.5 tires for two months. 33" no more. Folks posted you could still easily get 35" but nobody told me where. I've literally called over 20 tires dealers and BFG. No 16.5 tires in those 2 sizes. You can get 29" and some in 37". But for the majority of us, we're out of luck. I'm hoping I'll be safe with 16" steel wheels.......... But then if you told me they'd discontinue a 33x12.5x16.5 tire a year ago....... I'd of laughed.

Re: BFG 35/12.5/16.5 available again!

I originally had the 36 12.50 16.5 Wrangler RTII on the Jimmy. They were exactly the same size as the 35 12.50 15 BFG MT that were on the truck, but the 37" radial is a LOT bigger. On my truck was going to require either significant fender trimming or going to a 6" lift.

FYI, the bias tires sucked pretty much. They looked awesome but like bias tires do, they flat spotted, lane walked, and were loud. But all 5 delivered for $550 and a deal on some closeout rims made it worthwhile for the 8 years they were on the truck. YMMV.

Re: BFG 35/12.5/16.5 available again!

All I know is mine are OK, but I better hurry up and do my springs and run them while they're still OK.

I sold my 6" lift, 37/12.50-16.5 SSRs mounted on Kelsey-Hayes 16.5 x 8.25s last summer. I'm going with 4" and run this set I bought terribly cheap. 35/12.50-16.5 BFG A/Ts mounted on 9.75 aluminum slots. I may need zero rates. These were the mild set for the 6" lift originally. My plan is to keep tires on these wheels, but also want 16x8 steel wheels and maybe 35/10.50s or anything down to 255/85 or 285/75. I hope I can keep running 16.5s

RedRoad I'll call again. But I'm not lying, I talked to Summit Tuesday. On the phone for 20 minutes with a super helpful phone rep. he tried to help me find a wheel I liked in an 8 lug. The one I wanted wasn't available so most of the time he was looking for a 33 or 35x16.5 tire. Nothing............. I'm not making this up. When I called BFG they said sorry not available. I've been told by other forum members that they (BFG) does a run of that size once or twice a year. I've never gottin that responds from any tire dealer I've contacted. I wish it weren't true as I can't believe they would discontinue such a popular size........

Re: BFG 35/12.5/16.5 available again!

RedRoad thanks for directing me to the sight. Once again I called Summit and talked to a rep. to find out what is going on with this tire size. He said they have 50 back ordered with no delivery date. He put me on hold so he could call BFG. When he came back he was also surprised at BFG's responds. He was told that they could only look at tire production runs 4 weeks out. That size 35x12.5x16.5 was not on the list. He said that wasn't the answer he expected and I may be right. So are they ever going to make them? No other tire manufacter makes that size, you'd think I'd be a cash cow...... When I called BFG a month or two ago, the person I talked with was so sure they discontued them she told me to call Coker tires........
My solution 16" steelie's with caps. Keep my 16.5 slots in case they start making that size again.......
Thanks again and please keep me posted if you get more information.

Re: BFG 35/12.5/16.5 available again!

here is the reponse from Jegs:

Quote:
Thank you for giving Jegs the opportunity to assist you with your technical question.

I have checked, we do not have these either. It looks like it will be tentatively the middle of July before they are available. Let me know and we can backorder them for you. If you have any further questions, please feel free to contact us.

Thank you,

I needed a set for a truck I am moving mid July and since no one will have them before that I went with wheel vintiques 82 series and BFG 35/12.5/16KO2s. What is cool is they will take the stock hub cap but they only come in black. I emailed WV directly and never got a response on getting bare or white since my burb is white.

I hope to get a set of the 16.5s when they come out since the price is right

Re: BFG 35/12.5/16.5 available again!

Typical big corporation, total lack of communication between production and sales. A few months back I checked the BFG site for any 16.5 tires and none came up. Two weeks ago I started looking for some 255/85/16 KM2s to find them no longer listed which I thought was strange as my brother got a new set a few months back. I did notice that while looking at tire size option the 16.5 was now offered and the 35/12.5 was again listed

http://www.bfgoodrichtires.com/tire-...o/tire-details

Hopefully they will come to be and like you said a TON of old rides out there want/need this size. I think a 33/12.5 would be pretty popular as well.

I say the next 5 years tires for 15s and 16s will start to die off. Most new cars and trucks run a 17 to 20 inch rim factory now.

Re: BFG 35/12.5/16.5 available again!

Yeah, the industry had to go get all stupid and shoot themselves (and us real truck guys) in the foot by catering to silly fad sized wheels and tires. This fad began with low-brow scum gang bangers and now the general populous follows suit. All that has resulted is much higher tire prices and huge difficulty stocking a zillion different sizes. Why would they do this, and all for a fad? Pure stupidity! What next, change tires to some other shape than round? I guess tires rot and fall off the rim before their time now because the tire companies have cheapened the material to help compensate for the added cost of tooling, line changes, and logistical nightmares created by so many sizes

At least you got a response from WV, not even a courtesy email saying if they even had the rims in stock. I ended up getting mine from Summit for $117 each and got them in 2 days after ordering. I did email them to see if they were available bare or in white pc and they only had satin black pc in stock.

http://www.summitracing.com/parts/wvi-82-680804

Back when I was looking for 16.5x8.25 in the p&p it took me a few months to get a set together, Ive never even seen any modern 16x8 rims available so not sure what your luck may be. The ford 16x7 might work but most places will not mount a 12.5 tire on a rim less than 8 inches.

Im going right now to pick up some BFG 315/75/16 from 4wheelparts at $217 each so hopefully Ill be good for a few years.

Re: BFG 35/12.5/16.5 available again!

Here are the new WV 8x16 with BFG 315/75/16 tires. Mounted they measure at 34.5 inches tall and a full 12.5 wide.

It troubles me that these days I had to sell a car to be able to afford tires for my old truck. Luckily for me old VWs are up on value so I was able to get the tires and locker for the HO52 (Thanks Jeff!!)
