Kickpanels
Anyone ever cutout their own kickpanels for speakers? seems cheaper than buying the premolded ones. Wonder how it would look.

It wouldn't work without destroying the cab. You have your front door pillar welded to the back side of them. WES www.ClassicHeartbeat.com

I have tried it, There is a reinforcement piece of steel behind the panel, and you would have to cut through it also. ( I'm sure the piece that Wes mentioned) I cut up to that panel and stopped.

I like the cabs that i've seen at local yards with holes cut for speakers. almost every one is rusted out more than where the original cut for the speaker that was installed.

kick panel speakers
You can put a speaker in the kick panel without going through the support bracket. I have done it to a number of trucks. The factory put speakers in the kick panel if you order the eight track stereo with this speaker system. They set a template to cut the holes out. So it is a factory thing.

I'd be willing to bet that the sound quality actually suffers with the "factory" cutouts Vs. the bolt in plastic ones. Anyone?

speakers
You should hear one that is installed. It puts the speaker in it's own little box. They do echo a little if the bass is too high. They sound better than just one speaker in the dash.
