Craigslist find Central Idaho

This seems like a pretty decent ruck. Might have to see if I can trade my 66 for it.

Wow is that truck short. Looks like he cut more than 12" out of the front of the bed.

Looks like the 12" and the 8" were both cut from the middle instead of 12" from the middle and 8" from the rear. It is a nice truck except for that.....

Just my 2¢ worth

Doesn't look all that bad, but why on earth does it have two alternators? newer bracket style on the lh side and era correct bracket on the rh side. Maybe one is just a dummy and used as an idler pulley in order to make other things work out I suppose. Can't really say I've ever seen that before though.

Look past the goofy bed and think for a second.....Could that be a 50th Ann. cab ? As soon as I saw the firewall i was curious. Somebody needs to go check that out.

Re: Craigslist find Central Idaho

The short wheelbase is great for rock crawling but leaving so much bed after the rear axle makes me wonder if it will get hung up on the departure angle unless he was thinking of installing huge tires. It also could be the sharp angles at which the photos were taken. Craigslist photos are usually bad.

The 2 alternators are probably to power a winch or an on-trail welding set-up without hitting the batteries too hard.

This is a 68 cab on a Blazer frame, if you look at the one picture showing the rear axle you can see the Blazer specific body mount above the rear spring shackle

Now that I look at it closer I see what everyone is talking about. Too much of a mishmash for me.

Re: Craigslist find Central Idaho

I think the back portion is short bed length, it just looks longer since the front part of the bed has extra missing. The repaint appears to have been done over dents and all as well, and as shown in the one picture of the door frame it's not a great paint job.
All of that being said they are only asking $5,000. That doesn't look like a bad deal.

Re: Craigslist find Central Idaho

With the rusted cab corners and needing to shorten the bed, I would have made a unibody out of it. Bring the bed sides all the way to the door jambs would solve both issues and make a cool custom out of it.
