Brain picking time: late 55 center section in 48 housing?
Yuppers I have a question I can't figure out the answer to.
on an ot project I need to run Huck brakes and drums to be able to run 32 Chevy 18 inch wires. I'll show a photo someday with it on a trailer behind the 48. anyhow somewhere in the back of the brain I remember talk of putting a TF center section in an early axle housing to get open drive. If I can do that it might be simpler than swapping Huck brakes to the 55 housing I have. I know it possibly won't stop as good as with Bendix brakes but this is a 1600 lb car if that when it's finished.

It does the heavy work and hauls the projects around. |

Yes, they will interchange.

That's what I thought, now I need to come up with a 47/50 rear axle which means a call to my buddy.

That should do it. I put a 55 center section in my 51 axle, and it was a bolt in. Axle shafts were even the same.

Thanks. This lets me run the 1932 18 inch wires without spacers that I would need with the Bendix brakes.
