Gonna change my oil (350 with 305 heads). What is a good 20w50 oil with lead in it?

The oil you are looking for has the additive called ZDDP, a zinc based additive. Look at rotella t, delvac, or possibly get a bottle od ZDDP additive. Gm I think still sells a bottle of what was called E.O.S. for engine oil supplement. This was used to add to the oil during initial camshaft break in period after a engine rebuild. As just a quick reference if the oil is almost colorless it's for newer engines (basically no ZDDP) and if the oil looks like the color of honey it probably has the ZDDP additive. The ZDDP obviously was there in the 90's and back for NON ROLLER LIFTERS. Newer engines don't need it and shouldn't use it because what has been learned is using the colorless oil without ZDDP has extended the life of O2 sensors and catalytic converters substantially.

Use Dynasaur based oil . synthetics were designed for modern engines .I've used Castrol 20-50 for many years in many classic cars and trucks and it never let me down living in Tampa bay with the high heat and heavy traffic .

he's not breaking in an engine and has no need of synthetics regular old castrol 20-50 and he's done nothing special about his 350 .

Chevy recommends 10W-30 in these old engines. This picture shows how much lubrication you don't get from 15W-40 when the engine and oil is cold. They didn't even bother to show what 20W-50 looks like when cold.
The protection the heavier oils provide your bearings is only better above 250 degrees, but the increased wear on the bearings when the oil is cold, really shortens engine life. Most of the oil gets pushed through the by-pass valves.

Ok,,,,I've got Castrol GTX 20w-50 and using Rislone oil supplement with zinc....here in florida,,,think that might work ok?

Why 20w-50? Seems a tad thick... even for Florida.

Engines get quite hot here,,,ran in the suv's I've had,,,seemed to work well,,,run it my motorcycle,,,seems to lubes well,,,,,for instance,,,todays heat index,,real feel 102
