Exclamation red or green

I have many panels that were primed about a year ago. now that the other pieces are all blocked and ready for primer, which will be best to scuff the parts that are primed already to receive an additional few coats of primer? red or green scuff pad? and why?

Re: red or green

when I was working at a body shop I was handed a red pad, unfortunately I did not ask why, but that is what I used on the painted parts to scuff...seemed like he told me it was the same as using 420(???) paper- I could be all wrong with the #'s

Re: red or green

I have used both and depending on the primer I think either one will work and do a reasonable job. You must have that big box of green pads. I bought a box full and don't remember where they came from.
3M makes a gel that is called prep gel that you put on a scuff pad and it says it will "supercharge " the pad[their words not mine]
