Has anyone ever shipped an 8 foot bed?
My 79 k20 is all original with the exception of the bed. The fire company took the fleetside off, in the late 90s I believe, and replaced it with a utility body. I want to bring it back to original condition. Living in New England however requires bringing a bed from afar. I have located one, but would need to ship it. Has any one done this before?
How much does it weigh? Can it go by truck? How to pack? Thanks in advance for your help! |

Re: Has anyone ever shipped an 8 foot bed?
I have never done it, but it will be pricey. I would not be surprised if you could ship a whole truck cheaper than shipping a bed. The last time I checked - coast to coast was about $800-$900 to ship a vehicle. If you bought a whole vehicle you would be able to scrap or sell the leftover components and possibly offset the cost of shipping. Decent body trucks can be had in the southwest for $2-$3K with bad engines/transmissions.
