A/C Pulley...

So I feel like an idiot even asking this, but my '71 is getting a/c installed this summer...what pulleys do I need to buy for the vintage air kit for proper install?

(I have a 406 sb power steering and power brakes if that has an impact)

Re: A/C Pulley...

I'm sure if you give vintage air a call they can help you. It is their kit after all. I'm working with my first vintage air kit on a 40 ford right now.

Re: A/C Pulley...

I am going through the same thing and I finally have all my issues sorted out. So maybe I can help. First things first, do you have the correct short water pump and the ALT on the driver side or do you have the long water pump with the ALT on the passenger side from the 80's models trucks? Your water pump will tell me what pullets you have.

My truck had the long water pump with the alternator on the passenger side which was incorrect for our trucks. I found the correct 3 belt pulley for the crank and the correct 2 belt pulley for the water pump. heres how the vintage air and pulley system works together. keep in mind I am starting with the belts working my way out away from the block

1rst closest to the block v grove for alt, goes crank water pump alt.
2nd grove is for the ac system which if you have the correct pump and pulleys vintage air has that set up. goes crank water pump ac.
3rd pulley closest to radiator goes from the crank to the power steering pump only.

Again let us know what set up you have and I can help you more. Pictures are a big help. Over the years people use tons of weird combos on the pulley systems on these trucks. My truck had three pulleys on it and the only usable one was the alt. The rest didn't line up. I can post pictures of the correct pulleys if needed.

And don't get me started on converting an original Inline 6 to an original v8 setup for a 3 on the tree. Every linkage and cross member you can imagine is different!

Re: A/C Pulley...

Wow ok you have tons of aftermarket stuff and what looks like a dual mini serpentine belt setup. Here's something to keep in mind. Most of the vintage air systems have to bolt up top to either of the heads. Yes they make a setup that goes on the drivers side as well. To me it looks like your power steering pump is bolted up high in that position though. I feel like you will need to move it back low and get the drivers side kit. But before you start getting worried call vintage air and tell them what you have and they will tell you what you need. They do sell all the correct brackets to work with your system. Your system almost looks like an older tbi setup to me.
