69' Suburban stereo plan
Ok so this is what I'm thinking about. I would appreciate constructive comments. I want to keep this in a reasonable budget. I have a JVC head unit I plan to use. I'm thinking Polk Audio DB651 6.5" in the two front doors and the two(?) rear doors. Id like to power them with a Rockford Fosgate Punch 600.4 amp. I have a pair of Hertz 4" speakers for in the center dash run on deck power for fill.
In the rear barn doors, Id like to put a pair of 10" subs (brand undetermined) powered by a separate Rockford Fosgate amp. Yes!!! I plan on cutting up perfectly good barn doors! The head unit and Hertz speakers are paid for, the Polk's I can get on Amazon for about $60 a pair ($120) and the Punch amp I can get for about $350 on Amazon. Which sub's and amp would compliment this system? Does this sound like a decent system?

Re: 69' Suburban stereo plan
For the subs, how would a pair of 10" Kicker L7 Solo Baric's driven by a Rockford Fosgate 1200 watt mono amp sound?

How solidly do your barn doors close? Mine have a bit of play and subs in them would rattle like crazy.

Re: 69' Suburban stereo plan
There is a small amount of play but I think I can cure that with some adjusting and extra weather seal. The problem is I cant figure out anywhere else to put them with the carpet kit installed in the back.

Re: 69' Suburban stereo plan
Could they mount in the benches? Use them like sub boxes?

Re: 69' Suburban stereo plan
No. There will be times when I remove the benches for hauling larger items, cleaning etc.

Re: 69' Suburban stereo plan
Those L7's would probably blow apart the rear doors.
You are gonna need about 30-40 sq feet of sound deadener (dynamat) in those two doors to keep them solid, then need to fiberglass the insides to make a proper chamber. Sounds like an awesome idea, but it gonna be lots and lots of time to keep it going. I would probably not recommend doing the 4" in the dash, I would say you'll get better sound going with a better speaker in the front doors, maybe a component speaker with separate tweeter in the dash location. |
